Painter born in Barcelona in 1826. After a difficult childhood, his career in painting began in the Lonja de Barcelona where he attended night classes. Later and on his own he painted in the town of Mataró where he sought the naturalist, away from the pictorial officialism of the time. He visited Paris on several occasions where he sought to train and learn from the great masters. He participated in the General Exhibition of Fine Arts in Barcelona (1851). He obtained the Chair of Drawing at the Escuela de la Lonja in Barcelona (1852) and began to give classes, always with a markedly realistic and naturalistic character. He died in 1894.
